Working together
As a Supported Housing Landlord we recognise that we are part of an individual’s support network and it is important for others to understand what it is we do and equally important that we are clear on the roles of each organisation and individual.
We are aware that there are many areas where we have to work together and feel it is very important to be clear about each other’s responsibilities. Within our Service Level Agreements we set out in plain and simple terms what those roles and responsibilities are.
Selection and allocation
Working together to:
Identify new Tenants and ensure compatibility with other tenants.
Ensure that the property currently meets their needs.
Identify when tenants needs change.
Support tenants when issues affect their tenancy.
Repairs,emergencies,fire,health and safety
We both have obligations to our staff and our tenants, and to meet the ever changing legislation and regulations. The balance and conflict between our tenants home but support providers place of work, raises issues around insurances, checks and necessary procedures and documentation.
Legal action in respect to occupancy agreements
The requirement to liaise when serious issues arise that could result in any legal actions. We would never act in isolation. We are often involved to support organisations with issues around the legal obligation of the tenancy and to work with our tenants to meet those obligations.
Move on
Whether tenants want to move on by choice or if needs change so dramatically that the accommodation no longer meets those needs, careful planning and working together is required.
Liaison review and revision
We find it is useful and important to meet regularly to discuss current and future issues to ensure that there is smooth working between organisations. We all recognise that things do change and it is important to recognise and adapt working practices wherever necessary. We are able to provide useful information, relating to all aspects of the accommodation and support that we provide, that is relevant to a support providers staff and their managers.
