Why Shared Supported Living Is Beneficial

Supported Living

Shared supported living is a transformative way of providing support to individuals who need it while fostering independence and a sense of belonging. Whether you’re a family member exploring options or an individual looking for a supportive home, it offers a balance of care, camaraderie, and independence. Let’s dive into why this model is so impactful and explore the benefits.

Reducing Isolation With Shared Supported Living

One of the standout benefits is the sense of community it creates. Living with housemates fosters connections that can feel like family. Tenants often build meaningful relationships that reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation.

Encouragement Toward Independence

While support is always available, shared living encourages tenants to take responsibility for daily tasks like cooking, cleaning, and budgeting. These small, day-to-day responsibilities foster a sense of accomplishment and independence.

Improved Social Skills Through Interaction With Shared Supported Living

Living with others naturally encourages the development of social skills. Shared living promotes teamwork, empathy, and communication as housemates navigate daily life together. These skills can lead to more confidence in other areas of life.

Access to Shared Activities and Experiences

Shared living properties often encourage housemates to participate in group activities, such as cooking meals together, movie nights, or outings. These experiences create a vibrant, engaging environment and help tenants feel more connected.

Greater Security and Stability

Having a structured, supportive environment helps tenants feel safe and secure. Knowing that assistance is always available provides peace of mind for tenants and their families. Plus, the stability of shared living arrangements allows for long-term planning.

Shared Supported Living Is More Than a Home—It’s a Community

Living in a shared supported living property offers countless benefits, from fostering independence to creating meaningful relationships. This model promotes a balanced lifestyle where individuals can thrive with the right support while still enjoying the joys of community living.

If you or someone you know is exploring supported living options, consider the transformative impact of shared accommodation. It’s not just about finding a place to stay—it’s about finding a home where life truly flourishes.

Electrical Safety

We use electricity every day in our home and we sometimes forget how dangerous it can be. Here are some tips to improve safety around your home, it is a good idea to check for these common faults/dangers:

  • Check for frayed or damaged leads
  • Tuck leads safely out of the way and keep them neat and tidy
  • If you have any cracked plugs, sockets and switches report them to us straight away
  • When using bulbs only use ones at or below the maximum wattage
  • Remember water and electricity do not mix – do not unplug or plug things in with wet hands, be careful if you spill water near or over appliances
  • Don’t overload sockets, too many plugs in one socket can be dangerous, overheat and cause fire

If you have any concerns about any of your electric or electrical appliances, please contact us on 01706 759330 or 01706 753678
